What is IPL or Photofacial?
Photofacial is just another word for IPL or Intense Pulse Light, which is a non-ablative skin rejuvenating treatment that reduces skin imperfections and improves skin tone and texture. As we get older, skin imperfections such as fine lines and discolorations start to become more noticeable. IPL is a technique that can reduce or even eliminate these age related changes.
What are the benefits of IPL?
IPL is an effective treatment for skin imperfections and has the following benefits over other invasive techniques:
It is quick and easy procedure
Safe and effective
Is IPL right for me?
IPL or a photofacial is designed for people that have skin imperfections that make the self conscious or uncomfortable. It can effective treat the following conditions:
Lighten Pigmented Lesions (freckles, sun spots, sun damage, hyperpigmentation)
Lighten Vascular Lesions (broken capillaries, angiomas, redness from Rosacea)
Smooth Skin Texture (rough skin from sun damage, elastosis, fine lines, enlarged pores, scarring)
How does IPL work?
It works by using a technology that emits intense broadband light to specific and targeted areas. The light doesn’t harm normal healthy skin, but instead diminishes and removes the damaged skin. Our IPL also uses RF energy simultaneously to promote collagen production which tightens and smooths the skin. The treatments are virtually painless and only take a few minutes. Most patients require multiple treatments to achieve optimal results.
How long does it take to recover from an IPL treatment?
Recovery is almost immediate depending on the extent and area of the treatment. Often the skin will appear to be flushed for a few hours. Dark spots will react differently. Initially, dark areas of pigmentation will become darker as the rise to the surface. These spots will eventually slough off over the next few days. Results are immediate, but it does take multiple treatments to achieve the full effect.
